Why your property description is so important to a listing

So many agents think photos will sell a property and to an extent a picture does “say a thousand words’ so they say. So it would be easy to think when you list a property, that having your rooms on show with a brief comment is enough to sell it. However, at Sylvester Properties we know only too well that poor descriptions limit the effectiveness of a listing.

So many times we are asked to sell a property, which has seen little or no interest in the past, with an alternative agency. Only to find that the previous listing photographs were really poorly supported, with limited listing descriptions. We firmly believe that a thorough and thought provoking description really helps any potential tenants/buyers imagine themselves living in that property. Whether we’re picking out the original period features in a room, mentioning how cosy nights would be in front of the log-burning stove or simply pointing out that the room has modern down lights, it all helps set the scene.

With so much emphasis on great picture or even video, it would be easy to overlook that a room full of features has little to no description. Every week, there are literally thousands of new properties hitting the usual property portals and it’s our job to make sure your property stands out form the crowd.

When you choose and agent to market your property it is imperative to look at how much effort they put into marketing their homes online. Are they investing time in making sure you have quality photos, supported with compelling descriptions?
